Teamwork makes the dream work, especially when your dream is weight loss!
If you want to learn a language, what do you do? Probably enroll in a class with a teacher, homework, and maybe some cool classmates that’ll make hitting the books a little more fun.
When trying to make big changes or take on new challenges, there’s no shame in asking for help. Weight loss is no different! Teamwork makes the dream work. There’s a reason that saying sticks. Actually, I think in this case there are 3 reasons: education, accountability, and support.
You probably don’t need me to tell you that losing weight is tough. It’s even more difficult when you’re going into it blind, or worse, with the wrong information. My diet won’t be your diet and my workouts won’t be your workouts. It’s hard to know just what you don’t know. So, it’s important to have a health educator/team that you’re comfortable asking questions that takes the time to get to know you and educate you about your body and your specific needs.
Sometimes you need a kick in the butt! Maybe that’s a workout buddy or personal trainer who will drag you to the gym when you are really “not in the mood.” In any case, a lot of the times it’s helpful to have goals as well as someone to keep you accountable to working towards those goals. A team like NutriMD is just that: a team. We work with you. Yes, we gave you a bit of structure but everything is dynamic based on your goals, and your lifestyle. There’s always a reason not to do something, and left to our own devices, we’re pretty good at convincing ourselves that those reasons are better than they are. Having regular check-ins can be great for keeping yourself on track or adjusting that track if need be!
Sometimes you need tough love and sometimes it’s the opposite. You need someone to remind you to stop beating yourself up and that you’re doing a great job. The journey to changing your body can be as hard on your brain as it can on your body, and nobody should deal with that alone. You won’t wake one morning and see a huge difference from the day before, and that can be discouraging. Slow and steady is the way to go, even though it might be frustrating, having someone to remind you that you’re on the right track is unbelievably valuable!
The most successful weight loss journeys are team efforts. Having help not only makes the journey possible, but rich, sustainable, and even fun! So ask for help, it’s worth it.
